Today we want to showcase one of our retail projects: Fix Cafe'.
Located in Lanterns Mall, in Hastings, Barbados, this cafe' serves Italian gelato, locally roasted delicious coffee and awesome pastry.
Completion date was September 2016 but, my bad, I waited too long to ask Mario Porchetta Photography to help me documenting the end result - thanks Mario!
We decided for an industrial cozy modern look, warmed by the use of plenty of wood and pastel colors.
Small walls are used as dividers and repeated design elements to split the cafe into the different areas for the various products offered: ice cream display, visible from outside, orders placing and cash register, salads, sushi and beverages display, pastry display and coffee station.
All tops are white ash hardwood, counters facing are honey stained pine slats to provide ventilation to all the equipment and displays, stainless steel kitchen and fridges.
Ceilings were left open and painted black for an easy access and maintenance.
Two zinc coated trunking hang from the ceiling, hiding all the electrical and AC conduits and allowing ease of change in the lighting location.
Two double sliding doors dress the end wall and hide a storage and service closet.
Floors are done in epoxy resin with a large wood plank texture: nice, durable and easy to clean.
We also provide a variety of different seats: stools for high tables, colorful chairs for tables and a sofa set for the small "living" area, for longer and more comfortable permanence.
Artwork on the walls, handmade by me, is done using coffee bags burlap and painted apple crates.
They display books and magazines for the customers to use or borrow.
Door's and windows graphics catch the passers by attention and signal the cafe' in the mall.
Have a look here!
